Paul Pogba takes up acting role amidst doping ban

Paul Pogba is pursing an role in a French film titled ‘4 Zéros’, months after he was handed a four-year ban from football due to doping allegations.

The French film is reportedly a sequel to the 2002 release titled ‘3 Zéros’.

During filming in Paris last week, Pogba was spotted participating in the project, also taking on the role of a youth team football coach, according to ESPN and Le Parisien.

talkSPORT reported that eye witnesses praised his natural talent, enjoining him to explore more opportunities in acting.

While awaiting the outcome of his appeal against the doping sanctions, Pogba’s involvement in the film offers a glimpse into his activities outside of football.

If the ban stands, the former Manchester United star is not expected to return to football until 2027.

The doping allegations emerged after Pogba tested positive for a banned testosterone substance following a match against Udinese in August last year.

Despite being suspended since September, Pogba remains determined to challenge the sanctions.

His career in football has seen him play for top clubs in Europe like Manchester United and Juventus.

He has also made some remarkable achievements, notable among them include the Europa League, League Cup, and the World Cup with France in 2018.

“I don’t think parents should be selective. They can advise, yes, they can see something they don’t like and tell me then I can find a way to straighten it out. Not that they’d say I should not marry her, because if I marry someone else who looks perfect to them, she may not be perfect for me,” said the singer.

“I’m sorry to say, but our parents would die at one point so I’m the one who’s going to continue with my happiness or sadness. So I’m of the opinion that if parents see what they don’t like in our partner, they should tell us. But selecting partners for us won’t go well,” he concluded.

Spain and Morocco, two countries separated by just 29 kilometres of the narrow Strait of Gibraltar, are popular tourist destinations for Europeans. Many travellers take advantage of the opportunity to combine a holiday in Spanish resorts with a visit to Moroccan cities such as Casablanca or Fez

Currently, the most frequently chosen means of transport on this route are plane and ship. However, if plans to build an underwater railway tunnel come to fruition, trains could become the preferred mode of transport on this route.

According to National Geographic, the idea of ​​building a railway tunnel under the Strait of Gibraltar, connecting Europe with Africa, first appeared in 1979. The inspiration for this project was the Channel Tunnel, connecting Dover in Great Britain with Calais in France.

If plans to build a €6 billion tunnel come to fruition, the 27-kilometre underwater tunnel could connect Europe’s high-speed rail network with North Africa as early as 2030. However, this date is not accidental – in 2030, Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host FIFA World Cup.

The train journey between Madrid and Casablanca, currently taking around 5.5 hours, could become an attractive alternative to flights lasting almost two hours. The underwater tunnel would enable high-speed rail services, connecting existing Spanish railway lines with the Al Boraq route in Morocco, which opened in 2018, where trains run at 300 km/h.

The official investment costs are not yet known, but it is estimated that the construction of the underwater tunnel will cost over €6 billion. The Spanish government confirmed that the European Union will finance the project with €2.3 million.

This project is part of a broader trend of rail renaissance in Europe. More and more tourists are changing from planes and cars to trains, and the growing network of international connections and seasonal ticket promotions are making rail travel even more popular.

Trains, an ecological means of transport, play a key role in global efforts to slow climate change. In this situation, the underwater railway tunnel project between Spain and Morocco may become another step towards sustainable transport development.

He said this in a fun interview with Goal, where he was asked to keep mute until he saw a delicacy better than Ghana jollof.

Frimpong used to be linked with a possible nationality switch to Ghana despite rising through the ranks in the Netherlands.

The Manchester City academy graduate played for the Dutch at U19, U20 and U21 levels, before making his senior debut in a 2024 Euro qualifier against France last October.

Discussing his international future last year, the 23-year-old said he was happy to represent the Netherlands.

“It was nice to finally make my debut. It was against France as well, so it was a nice game. I was really happy about it,” he told Joy Sports.

Frimpong also admitted that he was approached by the technical handlers of the Black Stars over a nationality switch.

“Yes, the coach called me. I had a conversation with him but my mind was already made up,” he confirmed.

Asked if he occasionally watches Ghana’s games, the defender responded: “No, I just focus on the Netherlands.”

Frimpong, who was born to Ghanaian and Dutch parents in Amsterdam, helped Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga title this season.
