Zinedine Zidane has recently rejected speculation linking him to the Manchester United managerial position, citing a language barrier as a key factor in his decision.
Since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane, who speaks French and has limited proficiency in English, has turned down several high-profile offers, including those from Bayern Munich and various national teams. In an interview with L’Equipe, Zidane explained, “I understand English, but I’m not completely fluent in it. While some coaches work in clubs without speaking the language, I prefer a different approach.”
Zidane stressed that effective communication is crucial for successful management. He prefers to work in an environment where he can engage fully with players and staff without language limitations.
Despite his impressive career, including leading Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles from 2016 to 2018, Zidane’s next managerial position will not be at Manchester United. He is seeking a role where he can work in a language he is comfortable with.
