The Arewa Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, demanding his resignation and apology over allegations of appointing a suspected gunrunner, Bashir Hadejia, as a government aide. The forum has warned that failure to comply will result in escalated actions, including mass protests and a push for federal intervention.
The Zamfara State government has disavowed the alleged appointment, claiming the document linking Hadejia to the governor is forged. The government stated that the document in question does not appear in their official records and denounced it as a ploy by political adversaries.
APYF President Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir condemned the government’s actions, highlighting the emergence of two appointment letters with identical dates, signatures, and content. Kabir criticized the state government for its attempt to mislead the public and for potentially supporting individuals associated with criminal activities.
The forum emphasized the critical need for a thorough investigation and accountability, stressing that Zamfara State, already facing severe insecurity, cannot afford such controversies within its leadership.
