Zamfara: Bandits make fresh attempt to abduct Zurmi Emir
Gang of bandits have again stormed Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, with the aim of abducting the Emir, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Bunu.
A resident of the area, Mallam Mustapha Muhammad Zurmi told DAILY POST in a telephone interview that the monarch could not be kidnapped as he was escorted to Gusau by security operatives when the bandits recently unleashed an attack on the town.
Zurmi said that the terrorists did not kill or abduct anybody, pointing out that the bandits have been making serious moves to kidnap the Emir.
The source maintained that the terrorists were not operating on their own, saying that they have informants within that give them information about the entire town.
“The bandits have successfully relocated to Zurmi where they operate at will without any interruption of the security operatives”, he added.
Recall that the bandits recently set the Divisional Police headquarters of Zurmi ablaze and destroyed all the MTN equipment, leaving the residents in serious communication problems.
Residents of Kaura and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of the State have been lamenting that since the bandits destroyed the MTN equipment in Zurmi, they have been facing communication problems.
All efforts to get the comment of the State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar proved unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
