Leaders from over 60 youth organizations have announced that their members will not partake in the planned national protest against the Federal Government on October 1. Duke Alamboye, President of the Nigeria Youth Organisation, made this announcement during a courtesy visit to Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), in Abuja.

The youth bodies represented include the National Youth Congress, Arewa Youth Council, Yoruba Youth Council, Ohaneze Youth Council, South-South Advocate, Niger Delta Coalition, Nigeria Nexus, Youth Parliament of Nigeria, Green Africa Youth Initiative, and others.

Alamboye emphasized that the youth organizations would collaborate with other groups to prevent Nigerian youths from being misled into participating in protests he described as ill-advised. He announced plans for a series of activities aimed at educating the public, including a world press conference on September 23, 2024, and a youth summit on October 1, 2024.

He urged young people to pursue constructive dialogue and engage with the government through appropriate channels rather than resorting to protests that could disrupt national peace and stability. Alamboye acknowledged the current agitation for protests against President Bola Tinubu’s government, reiterating the importance of dialogue for expressing grievances.

The youth leader also congratulated Otuaro on his recent appointment, commending the President for his choice, and expressed strong support for both Tinubu and the PAP Administrator.
