The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that its ‘X’ account is not hacked but undergoing an upgrade. EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that the account is temporarily down due to system improvements aimed at enhancing service.
In a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Oyewale explained, “Our X account is down temporarily due to ongoing upgrade and we will soon bounce back. When there is an upgrade in a system, it may be temporarily down and inaccessible. We are doing the upgrade to serve the public better.”
The EFCC reassured the public that the account’s downtime is not due to a hack but part of routine maintenance. The account had over two million followers before it became inaccessible, with its landing page currently displaying a message indicating that no results were found.
Meanwhile, the commission’s other social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, remain active and functional.
