Following months of anticipation, Wizkid has finally dropped his first song of 2024, titled “Piece of My Heart,” featuring American singer Brent Faiyaz. Released on October 19, 2024, the track has made waves by setting a new first-day streaming record on Spotify Nigeria, amassing 1.1 million streams.

This impressive achievement allows Wizkid to break the previous record he shared with Asake for their collaboration “MMS” from Asake’s third album, Lungu Boy. With this release, Wizkid now holds the top three spots for the highest opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria, including “IDK,” his collaboration with Zlatan, which is in third place.

“Piece of My Heart” features a signature RnB fusion with a mid-tempo bounce that Wizkid is known for, and it has become the first song from any African country to reach 1 million streams on its opening day. This record-breaking feat underscores Wizkid’s status as one of Nigeria’s most commercially successful artists and highlights the growing prominence of streaming in Nigeria, especially on platforms like Spotify.

The single marks the beginning of the “Morayo” era for the Grammy winner, who is set to release his highly anticipated sixth album on November 22, 2024.
