Nigerian actor Alexx Ekubo has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu and other Nigerian leaders to urgently address the worsening economic crisis in the country. On August 9, 2024, Ekubo took to Instagram to share his concerns, posting a video with pictures he took in Kaduna State while filming the movie Almajiri in 2021.
In his heartfelt message, Ekubo reflected on the current economic hardships faced by Nigerians, noting that the situation has significantly deteriorated since 2021. He described the current economic downturn as the worst in over 30 years, with inflation reaching unprecedented levels and causing widespread hunger.
Ekubo’s plea was direct and urgent, calling on President Tinubu to take immediate action. He highlighted the need for a drastic reduction in electricity tariffs, fuel prices, and a reduction in the foreign exchange rate to the Naira. These changes, he emphasized, are critical for improving the standard of living for the average Nigerian.
In his emotional appeal, Ekubo urged the President to take this opportunity to make a lasting impact and lead the nation out of its current crisis. “Please, Mr. President, do something,” he wrote, stressing the urgency of the situation. “If you’re not going to give us a chance to lead, then lead us well.”
