Lake Atanasovsko in Bulgaria is a remarkable natural wonder, known for its distinctive pink color and diverse ecosystem. Situated near the Black Sea and separated by a sandy isthmus, this shallow lake—only 30 cm deep in some parts—is primarily colored pink due to the presence of brine shrimp.

One unique feature of Lake Atanasovsko is that its pink hue is concentrated mainly in the southern part, where salt production occurs. Annually, around 40,000 tons of salt are extracted from the lake, a tradition dating back over a century.
Tourists also flock to Lake Atanasovsko for its natural spa qualities. The water’s high salt concentration allows visitors to float effortlessly, and the lake’s mud is believed to have therapeutic properties, making it popular for mud baths.
