Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, is poised to play his final match for Napoli on Sunday, May 26, against Leece. Having joined Napoli from Lille on September 1, 2020, for a substantial transfer fee of €77.50 million, Osimhen has consistently delivered double-digit goal tallies each season.
Despite grappling with injuries this season, the 25-year-old Nigerian international has impressively netted 17 goals and provided four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
Amid reports of muscle fatigue, Osimhen sat out Napoli’s recent league fixture, a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina. However, there are indications from Il Corriere dello Sport that he may be fit to feature in his farewell league match for Napoli this weekend.
Furthermore, the Italian publication suggests that several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint Germain, are keenly interested in securing Osimhen’s services this summer. These clubs are reportedly prepared to meet his €130 million release clause to finalize a deal.
With the likelihood of Osimhen departing Napoli next season, the former Italian champions have already identified potential replacements, including Lille and Canada striker Jonathan David, and Girona’s Artem Dovbyk.
