Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for the United States to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), as directed by President Bola Tinubu.
Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), announced this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja. The decision allows President Tinubu to concentrate on pressing domestic issues, including the recent severe flooding disaster.
During the UNGA session, Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement, participate in key meetings on the sidelines, and engage in bilateral discussions. The high-level general debate, themed “Leaving no one behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations,” will occur from September 24 to 28.
