Vice President Kashim Shettima has commended Governor Peter Mbah for his developmental achievements in Enugu State, particularly recognizing his efforts across various sectors. During his visit to Enugu on Thursday, Shettima inaugurated the Enugu State Garment and Fashion Hub and launched the 5th Expanded National Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) Clinics. The initiatives, which are partnerships between the Federal Government and the Enugu State Government, aim to boost MSMEs in the state.

Shettima toured several projects under Governor Mbah’s administration, including the Command and Control security infrastructure and the International Conference Centre. He praised Mbah’s focus on security, infrastructure, water supply, and education, noting that the governor’s investments are critical for the state’s future growth.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration across party lines, Shettima stressed that the time for politics is over, and all efforts should be directed toward national development. He described the MSMEs as vital to Nigeria’s economic growth and expressed confidence that the Garment and Fashion Hub would create around 48,000 jobs, serving as a cornerstone for Enugu’s economic development. He also announced a N150,000 grant for standout MSMEs during the clinics.

Governor Mbah reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting MSMEs, acknowledging their role as the backbone of economic growth. He emphasized the need for policies that enhance business opportunities through infrastructure, security, and efficient legal frameworks.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, also praised the efforts of the Federal Government and Enugu State to foster the growth of MSMEs, recognizing the potential of Nigerian youth if provided with the right environment and resources.
