Charly Boy, a veteran Nigerian singer, has shared a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and legendary artist, Sound Sultan, who passed away in 2021. Reflecting on their close bond, Charly Boy took to Instagram on September 8, 2024, to honor the memory of his dear friend. He posted a nostalgic photo of the two of them together and expressed his deep sense of loss, writing, “I remember my very warm friendship with one of the greats, Sound Sultan. RIP.”

In the comments, a follower shared their own fond memories, writing, “RIP Mr. Sound Sultan, really loved you back then. When I and Captain ADEBAYO DOSUNMU visited your house, continue to rest in peace, brother. May God Almighty keep your children and wife safe.”

Sound Sultan tragically passed away after battling angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, at the age of 44. His death was a significant loss for Nigerians, and his funeral, held on July 11, 2021, at the Marlboro Muslim Cemetery in New Jersey, left many in tears.

According to his brother, Baba Dee, Sound Sultan received the best possible care during his illness. “It was always God. When he was sick, we didn’t ask anyone for anything. Everything took care of itself. He had the best treatment in one of the top hospitals for his condition. It doesn’t get better than that,” Baba Dee shared in an interview with Teju Babyface.
