The management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has refuted claims of student deaths resulting from an inter-gang clash on campus.

Clarification from University Spokesman
In a statement issued on Monday, UNIPORT’s spokesperson, Dr. Sam Kpenu, addressed an online video that purportedly reported student fatalities due to an alleged inter-gang clash. Kpenu clarified that the incident was not a cult clash but rather a fight among students.

Response and Actions Taken
Dr. Kpenu expressed concern over the misreporting of the incident, emphasizing that no students were killed or injured. The university, along with its security unit and the police, intervened promptly. The students involved in the altercation have been apprehended and are currently detained and being interrogated by the police.

Kpenu criticized the media for misinterpreting the event and assured that the university upholds the highest standards of professionalism in security matters. He affirmed the university’s zero tolerance for cultism, bullying, and any other forms of violence or disruptive behavior on campus.
