Unidentified gunmen have attacked a Toyota Camry in Asaba, Delta State, shooting two occupants and stealing an undisclosed sum of money.
The incident occurred on Tuesday along Old Awai Road in the state capital. The victims sustained severe injuries in the attack, which caused panic among residents and passersby.
The vehicle, bearing a government plate number, was intercepted by the gunmen who fired on the two male occupants. The assailants, who arrived in a separate vehicle, seized two Ghana-must-go bags filled with money before fleeing the scene.
Sources revealed that the victims were in critical condition and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital by bystanders.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the State Command, Mr. Bright Edafe, declined to comment, stating that no further details were available at the moment.
