Two bandits reportedly met their end while attempting to collect a ₦1.5 million ransom for four abducted victims in Mai-Iddo village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The bandits were gunned down by troops of the Nigerian Army, who had prior knowledge of the planned ransom exchange. According to sources, the victims, which included three females and a child, were kidnapped from a farm the previous week.

A community leader confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were rescued by the soldiers. The two bandits were killed after their leader sent them to a designated location where a relative of the abducted victims was supposed to deliver the ransom.

The community leader explained, “The arrangements had been concluded with the troops and the person delivering the ransom along with a vigilante. When the two bandits arrived to collect the ransom, the troops opened fire and killed them instantly.”

The rescued victims were subsequently reunited with their families. As of now, the Kaduna Police Command has yet to provide comments regarding the incident.

Kaduna State has been significantly affected by the activities of bandits and criminal gangs that invade farms and communities, leading to violence against innocent residents.
