Despite receiving a red card in the match against Manchester City, Leandro Trossard will be eligible to play in Arsenal’s next Premier League game against Leicester City on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
Trossard was dismissed for a second yellow card by referee Michael Oliver just before halftime for kicking the ball away after a foul on Portuguese international Bernardo Silva over the weekend. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) confirmed the decision, as the Belgian was booked for delaying the restart.
Reports indicate that Trossard informed his teammates in the dressing room that he did not hear the whistle and intended to pass to his teammate.
Since Trossard’s sending-off resulted from two yellow cards, he will serve a one-match suspension, which is standard for all English competitions and cannot be appealed. This means he will have fulfilled his suspension by missing the EFL Cup match against Bolton later tonight, thus making him available for the Premier League clash.
Earlier this season, Declan Rice also received a second yellow card for a similar offense in Arsenal’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
