Troops from Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin Kai, successfully thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram insurgents to vandalize power towers near Damaturu in Kasesa. The operation, conducted in collaboration with local hunter groups, was executed by Combat Team (CT) 7 of the 27 Task Force Brigade following credible intelligence on the insurgents’ plans.
“Upon receiving actionable intelligence on BHT activities, our troops swiftly laid an ambush, resulting in the terrorists abandoning a Toyota Corolla and eight prepared Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), along with detonating cables and other materials,” said Capt. Naziru Shehu, Acting Assistant Director of the Army Public Relations.
He further noted that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and Theatre Commander, Maj. Gen. W. Shaibu, praised the cooperation of residents and urged continued vigilance. Shehu emphasized the importance of the public providing credible information to security agencies regarding suspicious activities in their communities.
