“Troy Deeney Recommends Arsenal for Dominic Solanke, Suggests Tottenham Pursue Ivan Toney Instead”
Watford legend Troy Deeney has advised Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke to consider joining Arsenal rather than Tottenham Hotspur. Deeney believes Solanke, who enjoyed a standout season with Bournemouth, would be a better fit at Arsenal.
Solanke, who scored 19 goals and provided three assists in 38 league matches during the 2023–2024 season, has been a target for Tottenham Hotspur as they look for a replacement for Harry Kane. However, Deeney feels that Solanke’s style of play would be more suited to Arsenal, where he could thrive in a system that emphasizes finishing chances.
On the other hand, Deeney suggested that Tottenham should focus on Brentford’s Ivan Toney as a more fitting option for their needs. Speaking on talkSPORT, Deeney stated, “I think Solanke works better at somewhere like Arsenal, where he has to be on the end of something. If you’re going to spend £65 million, which is the reported fee, I would expect them [Tottenham Hotspur] to go for Toney if they can get him.”
