Director-General of Media and Publicity for the Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, has lost his son, Sadiq Modibbo Bature, following complications from a clinical surgery in India.
Sadiq, just 15 years old, was confirmed dead on Thursday morning, just days after undergoing a successful bone marrow transplant at an Indian hospital. The young boy had endured the painful effects of sickle cell anemia since birth until he succumbed to his final call.
In a heartfelt announcement on social media, the official spokesperson for Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, disclosed that Sadiq, his first child, passed away due to post-surgery complications affecting his brain.
Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa expressed his grief, stating, “This morning (Thursday), I lost my first child, Sadiq (Modibbo) Bature, at the age of 15. He lived as a good, brilliant, and obedient child.”
He went on to explain, “Throughout his life, Modibbo suffered from sickle cell anemia and had undergone a successful bone marrow transplant this month in an Indian hospital. Unfortunately, he died as a result of post-surgery complications in his brain.”
The family plans to bring Sadiq’s body back home for burial, which will be conducted according to Islamic rites in his hometown of Dawakin-Tofa. The date and time for the burial will be announced upon the arrival of his remains, which are expected to take place next weekend.
