TRAGEDY STRIKES LAGOS POLICE FORCE AS TWO DPOS DIE WITHIN A WEEK

< 1 mn read

The Lagos State Police Command has reported the death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijanikin Police Station, who collapsed in his office on Thursday evening. Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

This incident marks the second such tragedy within a week, as another DPO, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mojeed Salami, of the Seme division, also died after collapsing in his office just days earlier on January 10. Reports indicate that Salami had been feeling unwell and sent an orderly to call for the Deputy Commanding Officer (DCO), but when the orderly returned, he found Salami gasping for breath on the floor.

The recent deaths have left officers at both police stations in mourning, raising concerns about the well-being of police personnel in the state. The body of CSP Olugbenga has been transferred to a mortuary as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of both officers.
