According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average price for a 12.5kg cylinder is highest in the South-East region at ₦16,957.29, followed by the South-West at ₦16,665.45. The North-East has the lowest average price at ₦15,770.75.
The increase in price was notable, with a 4.89% rise from August to September and a staggering 76.41% increase year-on-year, up from ₦9,247.40 in September 2023. Smaller households are also affected, as the cost of a 5kg cylinder has risen by 4.19% month-on-month and 59.9% year-on-year.
