Gideon Okeke takes the lead role in Ramsey Nouah’s latest thriller, Tokunbo, which premiered in a glamorous ceremony in Lagos on Sunday, August 19, 2024. Sponsored by Amstel Malta, the event showcased Nouah’s third directorial feature.

Tokunbo features a stellar cast including Chidi Mokeme, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaiye, Funlola Aofiyebi, Funny Bone, Majide Michael, Tosin Adeyemi, and Darasimi Nadi. Directed by Ramsey Nouah and produced by Chris Odey, with Joy Odete serving as executive producer and co-producer, the film is visually brought to life by Director of Photography Muhammad Ata.

The film follows the story of a gritty Lagos native who leaves the car smuggling business to become an Uber driver, striving to earn enough money for his child’s surgery. His efforts lead him to a dangerous deal offered by Agba, a cryptocurrency trader and deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who proposes a job that could solve all his financial problems.

The task involves using his smuggling expertise to deliver Nike, the 12-year-old daughter of the CBN Governor, to the Badagry border within three hours amidst an intense police search. Nike’s abduction is a ploy to prevent the regulation of cryptocurrency in Nigeria, set to be announced by the CBN Governor on national TV. Tokunbo finds himself in a complex web of crime, forced to choose between saving his family or the daughter of a high-profile financial officer.
