President Bola Tinubu has expressed his gratitude to Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as he retires from his position as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) following a distinguished career in public service. In a statement released by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, the President acknowledged Ariwoola’s significant contributions to the judiciary, including his tenure as a Justice of the Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos divisions, and his elevation to the Supreme Court in 2011.
Justice Ariwoola, who was appointed CJN in 2022, has been recognized for his leadership and efforts in enriching Nigerian jurisprudence and strengthening the legal system. President Tinubu commended Ariwoola for his service to the nation and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
President Tinubu will officially swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the State House Council Chambers.
