President Bola Tinubu has come back to Nigeria from France to officiate the swearing-in of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria. The ceremony took place on August 23, 2024, at the State House Council Chambers.
Justice Kekere-Ekun, the senior-most Justice of the Supreme Court, was appointed by the National Judicial Council to succeed Justice Olukayode Ariwoola. Ariwoola retired on August 22, 2024, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70. Justice Kekere-Ekun will serve until her own retirement in 2028.
