Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo has sharply criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent purchase of a new presidential jet.

On August 19, 2024, Okonkwo took to Instagram to express his discontent, sharing a photo of the president alongside images of private jets. He condemned the acquisition, citing the dire conditions faced by Nigerians, including hunger, lack of food, fuel shortages, financial difficulties, and unreliable electricity. He wrote, “People are dying of hunger. No food, no fuel, no finance, no electricity, and President Tinubu is buying a presidential jet. This is the height of insensitivity.”

The actor’s post sparked a flurry of responses from his followers, many of whom shared his frustration. Comments ranged from personal hardship to broader criticism of the government’s priorities, highlighting the disconnect between public suffering and governmental expenditures.

This criticism comes as President Tinubu departed Abuja for Paris on August 19, 2024, aboard the new Airbus A330, which replaced the 19-year-old Boeing B737-700 acquired during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
