The Interrogation of Lotanna, directed and written by Reginald Jumbo, fondly known as Grandmaster Prime, has won the Best Nollywood Short Film award at the Realtime International Film Festival (RTF Fest) in Birmingham, UK. The film was produced by Ibukun Serah Adetoyinbo and Ore Oba.
As Nigerian filmmakers continue to shine on the global stage, The Interrogation of Lotanna stood out among several entries at the festival, which was founded by Stanley Ohikhuare in 2016. The RTF Fest is an independent film festival dedicated to nurturing a vibrant creative economy for independent filmmakers. It has played a pivotal role in the careers of over 150 young filmmakers, many of whom have gone on to have their films featured on major streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon.
This year’s festival showcased numerous Nigerian films, including Garden of Healing produced by Ozor Uche, Kaka by Prince Daniel, and Arinye by Seun Afolabi, alongside The Interrogation of Lotanna.
The film narrates the story of Captain Ardo, a commander assigned to suppress a rebellion in the east. His mission is to locate the rebellion’s leader, Zuru Nkwu. After months of futile efforts, Ardo receives credible intelligence pointing to a person of interest named Lotanna. Despite enduring torture, Lotanna steadfastly asserts his innocence.
The Interrogation of Lotanna features a talented cast, including William Chinoyenem, Cassey Oritsejolomi, Anthony Nwahiri, Francis Sule, Michael Embraiz, and Mr. Rala.
