The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is set to construct a 132/33 KV Transmission Station in Kpakiama, Bomadi local government area of Delta State, aimed at ending persistent electricity supply issues in Bomadi and nearby areas. The project, facilitated by Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, executive chairman of the council area, will extend its benefits to surrounding towns and villages, even reaching the Atlantic fringe.

A TCN delegation recently visited Kpakiama, securing a 300/300 feet plot of land at Amalasama. Engr. Chukwuemeka Kenneth, TCN’s Delta Sub-region General Manager, thanked the local community for their cooperation.

Key benefits of the project include:

  • Steady Power Supply: Replacement of the existing line from Ughelli, leading to reduced transmission losses.
  • Higher Transmission Voltage: The new 132 KV transmission will ensure efficient power distribution.
  • Employment Opportunities: Local youth will gain jobs from the project.
  • Economic Growth: Reliable electricity will boost economic activities in the region.

Hon. Andaye reiterated that resolving the electricity crisis is his top priority, assuring that the issue will be addressed in a few months. The host community, led by Mr. Ebiegberi Abamoh, expressed support for the project.

This initiative follows Hon. Andaye’s earlier collaboration with Tempo Energy Nigeria Ltd to install a turbine in Bomadi, which is still awaiting state government approval. The TCN project is seen as a more economically viable solution for the region’s electricity needs.
