Following a dominant 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on Rwanda on Tuesday, September 10th.

The Super Eagles’ win against Benin Republic saw Ademola Lookman score twice, with Victor Osimhen adding a third goal. Lookman’s first goal came just before halftime, and he completed his brace in the 83rd minute. Osimhen’s goal came in the 78th minute after a cross from Wilfred Ndidi.

In contrast, Rwanda managed a 1-1 draw against Libya in their first qualifier. Libya initially took the lead with a goal from Subhi Al Dawi in the 16th minute, but Rwanda equalized early in the second half through Nshuti Innocent, assisted by captain Djihad Bizimana. Despite Libya’s pressure, Rwanda held firm to secure a draw.

Rwanda, which is part of the same World Cup qualification group as Nigeria, is currently leading their group and will be looking to make a strong impression in front of their home fans in Kigali.

Nigeria and Rwanda have faced each other five times previously, with Nigeria winning twice and drawing three times. Rwanda is yet to secure a victory against Nigeria.

The match will take place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 PM Nigerian time. Fans can watch the game on DSTV and Afrosport.
