The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to begin preparations in Uyo for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya. The first leg will be played on October 11 at the Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo, while the second leg is scheduled for October 15 in Benina, Libya.
Ahead of the crucial fixtures, Libya made changes to their coaching staff, with Nasser Al-Hadiri replacing Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic after a poor start in the qualifiers. The Mediterranean Knights are currently bottom of Group D with just one point from two games and are targeting at least a draw against the three-time African champions, Nigeria, to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Al-Hadiri acknowledged the challenge of facing Nigeria but remains hopeful his side can secure a positive result. The Super Eagles, on the other hand, will be looking to build on their strong start to the qualifiers, having won their opener 3-0 against Benin Republic and drawn 0-0 with Rwanda in Kigali.
Malawian referees have been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate the match in Uyo.
