The Super Eagles players and officials are finally set to leave Libya following over 14 hours of mistreatment during their stay in the country. This development was confirmed by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, through a post on her X handle, where she wrote, “Super Eagles team now boarding. Journey mercies to all of them.”

Players’ Relief and Departure

One of the players, Bruno Onyemaechi, expressed his relief at the imminent departure, stating, “Me and Libya, I don wash my hands commot. Nothing concerns me and una again. Thank God I’m going back.”

The situation escalated after the Nigerian team was stranded due to Libyan authorities allegedly refusing to grant permission for their chartered flight to refuel and return to Nigeria. The players’ ordeal has drawn significant attention, highlighting the challenges faced by the team during this qualifier campaign.

As they prepare to return home, the Super Eagles hope to put this difficult chapter behind them and focus on their upcoming matches.
