SOWORE QUESTIONS AIR PEACE’S HANDLING OF WINDSCREEN INCIDENT

Mr. Omoyele Sowore, Publisher of Sahara Reporters and rights activist, has raised serious concerns regarding Air Peace’s response to a recent incident involving a cracked windshield on an Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft. Sowore, who was a passenger on the flight from Akure to Abuja, questioned the airline’s assertion that the incident did not cause panic among passengers.

In an interview with Vanguard, Sowore stated, “Where on earth does an airline safety issue not cause panic? Did they deny that the windshield broke? Is it normal for the windshield of an aircraft to break? Why did they not report it to the passengers or even to aviation authorities before they repaired it to cover up the incident?”

Sowore further criticized the airline for not returning the aircraft to Akure and continuing its operations from there, suggesting that the incident was more serious than Air Peace was willing to admit. He expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s aviation sector, stating, “It is because Nigeria doesn’t work that an airline would issue such a tepid excuse for a major safety issue and would be taken seriously.”

Sowore’s remarks underscore ongoing concerns about safety protocols in the Nigerian aviation industry and the need for clearer communication between airlines and passengers.
