Sony Music West Africa has teamed up with The Beat 99.9FM to celebrate the station’s 15th anniversary with an extravagant event known as “The Beat Brunch.” This high-profile gathering marked a significant milestone for Beat FM, recognizing its influential role in Africa’s music and culture over the past decade and a half.
Since its inception in 2008, The Beat FM has grown to become a central figure in Africa’s cultural dialogue. Deji Awokoya, General Manager of The Beat 99.9FM, expressed pride in their journey, stating, “This milestone marks 15 years of dedicated service in delivering entertainment, news, and music. The celebration honors our loyal audience and talented team, and we look forward to continuing to innovate and strengthen our community connections.”
The Beat Brunch was hosted at the upscale Wings Complex on Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, and featured a vibrant mix of industry executives, media personalities, and celebrities, including CKay, Falz, Ajebutter, Kemuel, Skales, Groovy Mono, Kriz Beatz, Deena Adé, and LIAHM. The event also celebrated notable media professionals like TaymiB, Toolz, Douglas Jekan, and Nicole Abebe.
Entertainment at the brunch was top-notch, with performances from Ayo Maff, Morravey, and hitmaker Oxlade. Oxlade delivered an impressive set featuring tracks from his forthcoming album Oxlade From Africa, including unreleased tracks “OFA” and “OLOLUFE” featuring Sarkodie, alongside his hit “KU LO SA.”
The energy was maintained by DJ sets from DJ Obi, DJ NTY, and DJ DayZee, while food and drinks flowed abundantly, making the celebration both indulgent and lively.
