Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has directed local government chairmen and officials of the Local Government Education Authority who diverted ₦30,000 Sallah gifts meant for state workers to return the money immediately or face severe consequences. He expressed disappointment over the actions, emphasizing the funds were intended to support workers during the Sallah festive season. Additionally, the state government declared Monday as a public holiday to mark the new Islamic year, 1446AH, encouraging reflection and self-assessment among the Muslim community.
