SKY Girls, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has launched a new teen TV series titled “Journey to Bloom,” which will air on Africa Magic Family. The series aims to engage and empower young audiences, particularly girls aged 13 to 19, while also appealing to boys, young adults, and parents.
About the Series
“Journey to Bloom” is set to air every Saturday at 6:30 PM and integrates important themes such as financial inclusion, behavioral change, and sexual and reproductive health. The series features characters like Tife, who navigates the challenges of financial awareness among teens, and Naima and Ajibola (a.k.a. Jibs), who delve into issues related to sexual and reproductive health. Other characters like Yomi and Chinedu also contribute to exploring various relatable themes.
Target Audience and Themes
The series addresses common issues faced by teenagers, including peer pressure, financial struggles, and self-discovery. It aims to be both entertaining and educational, providing relatable scenarios and practical solutions to real-life challenges that resonate with its audience.

Adenike Odutola, the Country Director for SKY Girls Nigeria, emphasized the series’ mission to create content that entertains while educating and empowering youth. She stated, “True to the core values of the SKY Girls community, we aim to create a series that not only entertains but also educates and empowers young people. By showcasing relatable stories and characters, we hope to inspire a generation of confident and informed individuals who can navigate the complexities of growing up with resilience and grace.”
Cast and Production
“Journey to Bloom” features a talented cast of young Nollywood actors, including Ayomide Boluwatife, Judith Ushi, Isoken Aruede, Wonuola Lanre Akinremi, Nadia Dutch, and Samson Imanah. Production for the series began on June 3, 2024, with episodes also available on the SKY Girls Nigeria YouTube page.
This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for young people to express themselves and thrive as they navigate the challenges of adolescence.
