Nigerian music duo Show Dem Camp (SDC) has recently released their collaborative album, “No Love In Lagos,” with Cavemen and Nsikak. The album, launched on August 9, 2024, continues SDC’s tradition of brilliant storytelling, blending their rap and alternative influences with neo-highlife music and magical strings.
In a recent interview on The Ebro Show on Apple Music, SDC’s Tec and Ghost explained the reasoning behind the album’s title. According to them, “No Love In Lagos” reflects the harsh reality of life in Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling economic and entertainment hub. Tec described the city’s atmosphere as one where people are primarily focused on their own hustle, leading to an “everyman-for-himself” mentality.
The album features collaborations with Obongjayar, Tim Lyre, Moelogo, and Ruti, and is produced by the acclaimed Spax. It represents a unique collaboration between two duos prominent in Nigeria’s alternative music scene, showcasing their versatile talents and pushing the boundaries of Nigerian music.
Beyond their music, Show Dem Camp has had a significant cultural impact with their Palmwine Festival, which began in 2017 and has become a notable event in the Nigerian music and cultural landscape, featuring artists like Burna Boy, Tems, and Tay Iwar.
