The hitmaker’s split from the label became evident when he deleted all his Instagram posts, removed Dapper Music’s name from his bio, and updated it to “Ïndepedent,” signaling his new status as an independent artist. A confidential source confirmed the end of his partnership with the label.
This development follows the cancellation of Seyi Vibez’s Canadian tour, which organizers attributed to “circumstances beyond their control.” Speculation is rife about a possible rift between Vibez and Dapper Music, the label that played a crucial role in his rise to mainstream success with his 2022 hit single “Chance.”
Since 2022, both Seyi Vibez and Dapper Music have seen remarkable achievements. Vibez won the 2023 Headies Award for Best Street Hop and ended the year as one of Nigeria’s most streamed artists. Meanwhile, Dapper Music’s CEO, Damilola Akinwunmi, was recognized as TurnTable Chart’s Executive of the Year for 2023.
In 2024, Seyi Vibez released his EP “Loseyi Professor,” marking his sixth solo project since November 2022, highlighting his rapid ascent in the music industry. Earlier this year, he also launched his own label, Vibez INC, through which he introduced a new roster of artists.
