“Seplat Energy Commits to Ending Gas Flaring by 2025, Announces Progress on Key Projects”
Seplat Energy plc has pledged to end routine gas flaring by 2025, emphasizing its dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The commitment was reiterated by Mr. Okechukwu Mba, Director of New Energy, during a panel session at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigerian Council’s 47th Nigeria Annual International Conference & Exhibition (NAICE) in Lagos.
Seplat Energy aims to utilize all produced gas to replace diesel and promote clean energy through new gas plant developments that include Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) installations.
The company is advancing several initiatives, including the construction of the Sapele Integrated Gas Plant (SIGP), which is expected to significantly reduce Scope 1 emissions upon its completion in the second half of 2024.
Key flare-out projects such as the Western Asset Flares Out, Sapele LPG Storage & Offloading Facility, Oben LPG Project, and Ohaji Flares Out Project are progressing as planned.
Seplat Energy has also made strides in securing evacuation options for unprocessed associated gas from the Sapele Flow Station and has seen growth in gas revenue year-on-year.
