SENATORS DONATE ₦74 MILLION TO BORNO FLOOD VICTIMS

Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Jibrin Barau, on behalf of Senate President Sen. Godswill Akpabio, led a delegation of senators to Maiduguri on Tuesday to address the recent flood disaster.

Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, revealed that each of the 108 senators donated ₦500,000, totaling ₦54 million. Barau also announced an additional personal donation of ₦10 million. Furthermore, the Northern Senators Forum contributed another ₦10 million, bringing the total donation to ₦74 million.

During the visit, Sen. Barau expressed condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum and the people of Borno. He emphasized that the tragedy affecting Borno touches the entire nation. Despite the Senate President’s prior visit, Barau and his colleagues felt it was essential to offer their individual and collective support to the flood victims. He prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and the restoration of lost valuables.
