Senator Ita Enang has claimed that while Akwa Ibom State is predominantly All Progressives Congress (APC), it is currently governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He confidently stated that the APC would prove its strength by winning the Local Government (LG) elections scheduled for October 5.
Speaking in Uyo on Tuesday, Enang, alongside Senate President Godswill Akpabio and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, discussed their campaign preparations for the council elections. He emphasized that the APC is poised to win all 31 LGs in the state, despite the current PDP administration.
Enang asserted that with President Bola Tinubu’s push for local government autonomy, the APC is ready to challenge the PDP’s control. He criticized the PDP government for its alleged failure to fully utilize the LGs’ potential, which includes infrastructure development and local education management.
Enang expressed confidence in Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to holding fair LG elections, despite concerns about the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) Chairman, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak. He noted that the APC has fielded candidates in every LG, indicating a strong readiness for the elections and a belief in winning more seats than the PDP.
