SENATE MINORITY LEADER CALLS FOR CALM AMONG PDP MEMBERS IN BENUE

< 1 mn read

Senator Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State to remain calm and avoid actions or statements that could further divide the party. This appeal comes in light of recent tensions stemming from the party’s congresses, which have polarized members into factions supporting former governors Samuel Ortom and Gabriel Suswam.

Recently, the Pro-Suswam camp convened a stakeholders’ meeting where Senator Suswam criticized the Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) for its inability to effectively mediate the crisis in the state. He warned his loyalists about the potential consequences of being sidelined and hinted at alternative options for discontented members.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel John, Senator Moro emphasized the importance of peace and urged party members to tone down any violent rhetoric that could exacerbate divisions. He called for tolerance among members and encouraged those with grievances to engage in constructive discussions aimed at unifying the party.

Moro reassured party members that leaders in the state are actively working to resolve the issues stemming from the congresses, with a focus on restoring harmony within the party. He affirmed that the PDP remains the only credible alternative to the current ruling party, which has caused significant hardship for Nigerians. Moro expressed confidence that the PDP will emerge stronger and better, ready to lead and address the challenges facing the populace.
