Following a helicopter crash near Bonny Finima, off the coast of Calabar, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, announced that divers are still searching for the remaining bodies of the eight individuals on board.

While three bodies were recovered yesterday, Keyamo provided an update via social media, confirming that search operations are ongoing. He stated, “This is just to update the public that the divers deployed to the scene of the helicopter crash yesterday at the Atlantic Ocean are still at work to find the remaining bodies and the wreckage.”

The incident occurred during a routine flight, and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has been notified. Emergency response teams have been activated, and search and rescue operations are being coordinated with support from various agencies, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Nigerian Search and Rescue Unit.

Mr. Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry, mentioned that although no signal from an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) was received, manual efforts to plot the location of the crash are in progress. Resources, including military support and low-flying aircraft, have been deployed to assist in locating any survivors.

As the situation develops, the ministry promises to provide a comprehensive statement once further breakthroughs are achieved.
