Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by federal agents on Monday night at a Manhattan hotel, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York. Combs, who had been residing at the hotel for several weeks, was reportedly surprised by the arrest.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams announced that the arrest was based on a sealed indictment from the Southern District of New York. Details of the indictment are expected to be revealed the following morning.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment, noting that Combs, 54, had been cooperative with the investigation and had moved to New York in anticipation of the charges. Agnifilo described Combs as an “innocent man” who is eager to clear his name in court, highlighting his contributions as a music icon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist despite his imperfections.
The specific charges against Combs have not been disclosed. The arrest comes amid a series of legal issues, including recent lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct. Former girlfriend Casandra Ventura (Cassie) had sued Combs in November, accusing him of years of physical and sexual abuse. The lawsuit was settled quickly, with terms undisclosed, and Combs has denied the allegations.
