The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State has urged the state government and security agencies to address allegations against Police Inspector Ismaila, who is accused of terrorizing the Ejule community.
Isaiah Davies Ijele, the party’s Director of New Media and spokesperson in Kogi State, stated, “The safety and security of citizens should be the highest priority of any government. It is unacceptable for individuals to freely wield weapons, putting innocent lives at risk.”
Ijele expressed alarm at the authorities’ apparent inaction, especially given that Ejule is the hometown of Deputy Governor Mr. Joel Oyibo.
“It is deeply concerning that such flagrant violations of the law are occurring in the deputy governor’s own hometown. This raises serious questions about the rule of law and the duty of those in power to enforce justice and safeguard our communities from criminal activities and thuggery,” Ijele said.
The SDP spokesperson accused Inspector Ismaila and his associates of engaging in criminal activities, including attempts to eliminate SDP leaders and supporters from the recent election.
“Several of our members have already been injured in the community and surrounding areas,” Ijele added.
He called for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations and urged the state government and security forces to act swiftly and transparently to address the lawlessness and possible collusion with criminal elements.
“The community must be able to feel secure and protected. It is crucial that those responsible for maintaining law and order act promptly to restore confidence and ensure that justice is served,” Ijele concluded.
