< 1 mn read

The Wasps of Rwanda, managed by German coach Torsten Spittler, are set to host the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, September 10th, in their second match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The clash will take place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Rwanda is currently unbeaten in their last two matches and boasts a strong record against Nigeria, having lost just once in their previous five encounters. Having participated in only one AFCON tournament (Tunisia 2004), Rwanda is eager to secure a place in the upcoming edition in Morocco.

The Super Eagles, under interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, are optimistic after a convincing 3-0 win over Benin. This victory marked a strong start for Eguavoen, with Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen among the scorers. Lookman, who was named man of the match for his brace, and Osimhen, the reigning African Player of the Year, are expected to play crucial roles.

Nigeria’s likely starting lineup in a 3-4-3 formation includes:

  • Goalkeeper: Nwabali
  • Defenders: Ekong, Ajayi, Bassey
  • Midfielders: Aina, Ndidi, Iwobi, Onyemaechi
  • Forwards: Lookman, Osimhen, Chukwueze

Captain William Troost-Ekong will lead the defense, with Wilfred Ndidi anchoring the midfield. Lookman and Osimhen are anticipated to be key in Nigeria’s attack.

As Rwanda looks to capitalize on their solid historical performance and Nigeria aims to build on their recent success, this match promises to be an exciting encounter.
