The Enterprise Division of IT solutions company Routelink Group is leading efforts to educate the public on preventing cybercrime through sensitization programs. These initiatives aim to protect individuals, corporations, and organizations from cyberattacks and promote a resilient cybersecurity culture.
At a recent virtual conference titled “Building Resilience into Your Cybersecurity Strategy: A Step-by-Step Guide,” Routelink Group gathered stakeholders to discuss strategies for mitigating cyber threats. The company, known for its diverse portfolio in enterprise IT solutions, fintech, and telecommunications infrastructure, emphasized the growing risks of cybercrime.
Group Managing Director/CEO, Femi Adeoti, highlighted the real threats posed by cybercriminals to organizations, individuals, and national entities. He stressed the need for robust protection measures and greater awareness about cybersecurity risks.
“Hackers can compromise company databases, making it crucial to implement strong governance and countermeasures,” Adeoti said. “Many Nigerians are unaware of online dangers, so educating the public on cybersecurity is essential for enabling them to safeguard themselves from cyber threats.”
Adeoti pointed out that cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated, using advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to perpetrate attacks. He cited a specific incident from August last year where LinkedIn accounts were compromised, leading to widespread access issues that took over six weeks to resolve.
He advised the public to be vigilant and cautious with their personal information, emphasizing that people are often the weakest link in cybersecurity. “No organization will ask for your personal details unsolicited, so limit the information you share and protect yourself from potential losses,” Adeoti cautioned.
Routelink Group’s efforts underscore its commitment to enhancing cybersecurity awareness and resilience in an increasingly digital world.
