Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has expressed concern about Brazil’s prospects for the 2026 World Cup without their star player, Neymar, who remains sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Neymar, currently recovering from surgery, has been absent since October of the previous year. His return date is still uncertain, which has cast a shadow over Brazil’s World Cup qualifying campaign, where they are currently fourth and trailing leaders Argentina by eight points.
Rodrygo has highlighted Neymar’s crucial role, stating, “I have no words. Everyone can see it, it’s clear how much he’s missed. He’s our star, our best player.”
The young forward, who shares a close bond with Neymar, is eager for his return. He added, “We want him back as soon as possible. He’s a great friend. In addition to being my idol as a player, as a person, he has shown himself to be a fantastic person.”
As Brazil prepares for their upcoming World Cup qualifying match against Paraguay, Rodrygo hopes Neymar’s eventual comeback will strengthen their campaign. He fears that the absence of Neymar could jeopardize their chances of World Cup glory in 2026.
