RETIREES’ GROUP CALLS ON TINUBU TO REVIEW PENCOM POLICY AMID SEVERE HARDSHIPS

The Correctional Officers Pencom Retirees Association of Nigeria (COPRAN) has criticized the contributory Pension Commission (PenCom) scheme, claiming it exacerbates the difficulties faced by retirees. COPRAN has petitioned President Bola Tinubu, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Minister of Labour, and the Human Rights Commission, highlighting that retirees are being deprived of their funds post-retirement.

COPRAN President for Plateau Command, Anthony Ayiwulu, remarked that while the PenCom policy was intended to be beneficial, it has instead caused significant hardship for retired public servants, who are now struggling to meet basic needs and support their families after 35 years of dedicated service.
