Reps Host Workshop to Refine Renewable Energy Policies for Nigeria

The House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy will host a workshop titled “Renew Nigeria: Unlocking Nigeria’s Energy Future” to enhance and expand the nation’s renewable energy policies. The workshop aims to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and address policy gaps that hinder the sector’s growth.

Rep. Afam Ogene, Chairman of the House Committee on Renewable Energy, announced the workshop’s objectives in Abuja on August 22, 2024. He emphasized that the event is designed to foster collaboration among key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, academics, and civil society organizations.

Promise Amahah, Chief Executive Officer of the Green Clean Innovation Hub, will serve as the Principal Consultant for the Committee over the next three years. Amahah’s expertise in sustainable energy solutions and climate-smart technologies is expected to drive innovative approaches and solutions during the workshop.

The workshop will focus on:

  • Facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues on Nigeria’s renewable energy future.
  • Identifying and addressing policy gaps.
  • Developing a comprehensive policy framework to promote renewable energy adoption.
  • Enhancing capacity and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.

The event will be co-hosted by the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, and other key stakeholders. The goal is to create a unified vision and roadmap for Nigeria’s transition to a sustainable energy future, aligning with the nation’s commitment to greener energy solutions.

Rep. Ogene highlighted that the workshop represents a significant step toward fostering a sustainable energy future for Nigeria, with the expertise of Amahah playing a pivotal role in achieving this vision.
