Social media personality and critic Reno Omokri has created a special dance move to celebrate the Labour Party’s defeat in the Edo State governorship election. In a video shared on his X account on Saturday, September 21, 2024, Omokri is seen dancing energetically in a gym, accompanied by upbeat music and a wry smile.

In the caption, he mentioned that this celebratory dance fulfilled a promise he made to his followers prior to the election. Omokri had vowed to dance if Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata did not win the Edo election. “I Promised To Dance If Labour Loses the #EdoDecides24. Enjoy the Dance!” he wrote.

The video emerged after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) uploaded polling unit results showing that Akpata was significantly trailing behind his main opponents, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Reports indicated that Akpata struggled at his polling unit, securing only 32 votes compared to Ighodalo’s 41 votes, with Okpebholo receiving 19 votes.
